This time round on my way to Europe I decided to break it up a bit. I always try to make my flight go through Singapore as I LOVE Changi Airport. That may sound like a bizarre reason to choose an airline, but when you are spending several hours in transit, this is the place that you want to be. There is free Internet access, transit hotels, free movies, massages, shopping, everything that you can think of to keep the weary traveller entertained. So this time around instead of just hanging out in the airport, I decided to head into the city and relax for a couple of days.
Singapore is a fantastic introduction to Asia. For those travellers that maybe want to explore Asia further but have no idea where to start, I believe Singapore is the city for you. Upon first glance it looks like any other big city, but once you get into it you will all those local treasures that Asia is famous for. Delicious cheap eats, cultural delights and a variety of adventures await you whilst being surrounded by all the comforts of home.
I save some money as hotels are not exactly cheap in Singapore, I chose to stay in Adler Hostel. It was advertised on its website as 'Singapore's first luxury hostel' and they are not wrong. I have stayed in many hostels in my travels, but nothing like this. Each bed was like a little cabin you would find on a luxury train, equipped with a lockable cupboard, shelving, personal light and drape for privacy.

It was the perfect place to get my thoughts together and relax from the stressful few days before. Everyone there was so wonderful and I could not think of a better way to start my new life abroad.
For 2 days I explored Singapore, enjoying the sunshine and delicious food. Here are a few photos (mainly of amazing architecture!) from my Singapore fling. Enjoy!!
